The Accomplishments & History of Lindsay Rosenwald

Today, the biotechnology industry is evolving rather quickly and Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald plays a key role in its growth.  Dr. Rosenwald has invested in a long and diverse list of companies, including research centers and companies developing new drugs.

Rosenwald finished his high school education in 1973 at Abington.  Thereafter, he attended Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a degree in Finance.  After Penn State, he received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine and went on to meet the requirements of his medical internship at Abington Medical Hospital.  For a short while he had his own private medical practice before moving on to other things.  He carved his way successfully through Wall Street, combining his knowledge in both medicine and finance to form new ideas.

Between the years of 1994 and 2007, Rosenwald took on the role of executive director at the Aries Funds which has invested more than $1 billion into healthcare companies that show promise.  Rosenwald also directed the Orion Fund from 2002 to 2006, which invested only in the biotech industry, especially private investments in public equity.

Dr. Rosenwald also created the Rosenwald Foundation, a non-profit that is committed to supporting scientific, healthcare and educational companies.

A unique mixture of finance and medicine has led Rosenwald down a path of discovery in the medicine, biotechnology and life sciences industries, where he has had the opportunity to explore new and innovative projects.

Today Dr. Rosenwald is a director at the Republican Jewish Coalition.  He is also the president of Paramount Group which concentrates its efforts on investment banking, R&D, and equity management in the industries of life-science and biotechnology.  One of his most recent enterprises is the OpusPoint Partners, LLC, established in 2009 with the purpose of supporting innovations in life-sciences and biotechnology.  The company is dedicated to technological breakthroughs that will influence and guide today’s life-sciences and biotechnology companies.

Some of Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald and his team’s most admirable accomplishments include the funding they have offered various companies and drug candidates showing great promise.   One such company is Cougar Biotechnology Inc., based in L.A., which focuses on cancer treatment.  One of the company’s recent developments was Abiraterone, a drug that tackles aggressive prostate cancer.  The company was sold to Johnson & Johnson for almost $1 billion in 2009 after a negotiation with Dr. Rosenwald.
