It has been almost twenty years since Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald started his career in medicine and the biosciences, in those years he has become known as a man of great advancement in biotechnology. His work with the sciences of medicine has earned him honor, and rightly so. Since Dr. Rosenwald started his career he has formed over forty companies, biotechnical and pharmaceutical in nature and gathered almost a billion dollars for the resources needed to finance biotechnical companies that have shown great promise.

Dr. Lindsay Rosenwalld is of course best known for his being an investment banker and venture capitalist, but also as a hedge fund manager. His first company, has provided many smaller biotechnical companies with the needed resources to further their work and develop some of the most beneficial drugs being tested and used today. Dr. Rosenwald gives his backing to companies where he sees the most potential therefore he is being a good steward of finances while helping humanity.

Lindsay graduated from Abington High School in 1973 and went on to pursue his career in medicine at Pennsylvania State University. He was a member of the honor society for business school known as Beta Gamma Sigma while he attended. After graduating there he was awarded a Bachelors of Science in finance degree which was in 1977. Lindsay then decided to pursue his medical interests at Temple University School of Medicine. He graduated there with a medical degree in 1983.

Deciding to begin his medical career, Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald enrolled for an internship at Abington Hospital and following that moved into private practice until 1986. It was then that he made a move that would seem outlandish to some, he went to Wall Street to become an analyst as well as physician.

By 1991 Dr. Rosenwald had now formed his group, in which he also had his first company. They provide funding to companies in the biotechnology sector that are looking to develop treatment options that are breakthrough in nature,that includes helping with their start ups and research for development.

Nearly two decades of excellent work have built an outstanding reputation in the field of biotechnology.  The time and effort that he has put into his work has payed off with benefits to mankind. As an entrepreneur who has founded more than forty companies including ones in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical realms, Dr. Rosenwald has raised over a billion dollars to further research in these areas as well.

Lindsay Rosenwald became known for his work in the financial sector as an investment banker, venture capitalist, and hedge fund manager.Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald got his interest in biotechnology fueled from his first company. This interest stems from his belief that smaller biotechnology companies are going to be the ones making he largest advances in future research. His financing of these smaller companies has helped them to make a positive impact upon the world.

Dr. Rosenwald studied at Pennsylvania State University after his graduation in 1973 from Abington High School, also in Pennsylvania. While at Pennsylvania State he was in the business school honor society of Beta Gamma Sigma. After graduation from Pennsylvania State in 1977, Lindsay took his Bachelors of science in finance degree and entered into  Temple University for studying in the medical field. Dr. Rosenwald then began his career in medicine, he took an internship at Abington Hospital in 1984.After completion of his internship, Lindsay entered into private and remained there until 1986 when he moved to Wall Street as an analyst and physician. The leap that Lindsay took was a bit of an unusual one for that time period.

Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald founded the group of companies in 1991. which finances small biotechnology companies in their research and growth.They give these smaller biotechnology companies a chance to grow by providing finances for start-ups and product development. They have had dramatic growth since its founding which are investment and development companies to promote the research and product development within the groups portfolio companies.

Dr. Rosenwald’s companies are well known to the world of scientific research as they have brought substantial product developments to the world.  The first gene therapy and cancer vaccine company to become publicly traded was one of his. Of the companies who obtain FDA approval for drugs, one of Dr. Rosenwald’s has the record for fastest FDA approval in the United States for Arsenic Trioxide, a leukemia drug which went thru the approval process within thirty months.  Cougar Biotechnology, the only company to be sold with just one product which is yet to be approved by the FDA, is one of Dr. Rosenwald’s founded companies. It was bought in 2009 by Johnson and Johnson for one billion dollars. The drug that was developed there was a treatment for prostate cancer.

Among several other biotechnology companies Dr. Rosenwald has founded which are making breakthroughs is Cypress Bioscience. They have developed many advanced drugs including Savella which is used to treat fibromyalgia and a medical device for treating severe rheumatoid arthritis, the Prosorba Column. Very important advancements considering the amount of pain and suffering that these two diseases cause to millions of people around the world. Another of hios companies, Polarx created a leukemia drug called Trisinox used to treat acute cases. Biocryst Pharmaceuticals, another of Dr. Rosenwald’s endeavors, won worldwide approval for it’s H1N1 influenza drug Peramivir.  Also, Titan Pharmaceuticals received FDA approval for Fanapt, used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Another particular health issue for which Dr. Rosenwald’s companies have created drugs for is obesity. This being one of the best of developments in the past thirty years for the treatment of obesity, which is so prevalent in the United States.

Dr. Lindsay Rosenwald’s contribution to the betterment of peoples lives doesn’t just include his companies research and drug development, but also in philanthropy. He actively donates to his own and other companies for the improvement of mankind’s health. The Rosenwald Foundation, which promotes education in the fields of science and medicine, donates millions of dollars to various educational institutions who specialize in these areas including those who conduct research as well.

Dr. Rosenwald is the director of  several companies in the private and public sectors including Interneuron Pharmaceuticals Inc., Keryx Inc., and Neose Technologies. He is also among those on the board of directors for the Jewish Republican Coalition as well as being on the advisory council for Columbia-Presbyterian Health Sciences Advisory Council.  The goal of the Jewish Republican Coalition is to bridge a gap that might be felt between the Jewish and political communities in America. They accomplish this by the intermingling of the Jewish community with the Republican officials who serve in the American political offices. The Columbia-Presbyterian Advisory Council is responsible for the decisions made by the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Rosenwald is able to provide a great service to not only the biotechnology field, but humanity by the service he gives by occupying these positions.

Throughout Dr. Rosenwald’s years of service, as a medical practitioner and a company fonder as well as philanthropist, he has helped mankind live better and more productive lives. He is an important part of many biotechnology corporations and he is still investing in methods and research to help people in the treatment of life threatening and disabling diseases.
